Mike Batra from Dr.Wamser & Batra GmbH reports on sales channels, forms of cooperation, trading structures, market entry barriers, transport problems, social and intercultural aspects and the cooking and living habits of the Indian target group.

On May 26, 2011, with the support of LivingKitchen, the large “India Country Information Day” of AMK, the German trade and service association for the kitchen industry, took place on the sidelines of the interzum trade fair in Cologne, with the participation of Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH. The prominent speaker at the India Day with almost 80 participants was the former Federal Minister of Economics Prof. Dr. Helmut Haussmann, who has been intensively involved with India for years and has made no secret of his enthusiasm for the second most populous country in the world with 1,2 billion inhabitants. Above all, he positively emphasized the democratic structures and the favorable demographic development of the emerging emerging country. Data, figures and facts about the Indian kitchen market were provided by Mike D. Batra, managing director of Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH with offices in Bochum, New Delhi and Gurgaon, which has already advised and supported many German kitchen furniture and electrical appliance manufacturers when entering the Indian market. In his presentation, he also pointed out the need for due caution when choosing a partner in India, especially with sales representatives and dealers, as well as determining the market potential, for example through organized and accompanied market research trips on site. This was followed by contributions tailored to the kitchen industry from AMK member companies that have already gained experience in the Indian market and can therefore assess opportunities and risks. The presentations by Marc Hantscher (BSH Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte), Thomas Kirschning (Hettich), Kristina Brinkmann ranged from sales channels to forms of cooperation, trading structures, market entry barriers, transport problems, social and intercultural aspects to the cooking and living habits of the Indian target group (ninkaplast) and Matthias Weiß (Poggenpohl). “The specialist lectures distinguish the AMK country information days from other events of this type and represent real added value for the participants from the kitchen industry. This was also evident at the India Day in the final discussion round and in the feedback from the listeners,” said AMK Managing Director Frank Hüther.
