Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH and AHP International organized a successful delegation trip to India with the focus on “technical textiles”
After a temporary slump in growth as a result of the global economic crisis, the Indian textile industry has now returned to its old upswing. According to forecasts, the production volume of Indian textile manufacturers is expected to grow threefold by 2020 and - according to the government's ambitious plans - reach an eight percent share of the global market.
A significant proportion of Indian textiles are already exported to Germany, be it the classic Indian home textiles (cushion covers, curtains, scarves), but also lace underwear, T-shirts, trousers and sportswear for almost all well-known European brands.
But it is not only delivered from India to Germany, but German exports also benefit: Germany is considered an important supplier and technology leader for textile machines and their components in India. Likewise, the growing need for the most modern technical textiles, for example for use in medical technology or aerospace, leads to repeated inquiries from India.
Due to this current development, Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH in cooperation with AHP International (Berlin) organized a business initiation trip for German companies to India, which took place from March 3rd to 8th, 2013. The trip was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as part of the BMWi Market Development Program 2013.
The focus was on the market potential for technical textiles. The destination was the two cities of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and Ahmedabad in western India.
The result of the trip is impressive: the companies had the opportunity to get to know concrete business opportunities first hand and to have an initial exchange of ideas with potential Indian cooperation partners. In addition, the support of Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH provides targeted support in establishing and expanding business contacts as well as evaluating the results and market access opportunities.
The participants were offered a diverse program of events, visits, company tours and discussions with decision-makers. A “matchmaking” event was on the program in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which, in addition to practice-oriented lectures on topics such as “Doing Business in India”, primarily focused on discussions that gave German companies the opportunity to meet potential Indian business partners to introduce and present. The discussions and visits during the trip met with an extremely positive response, so that the German companies began their return journey to Germany on March 8th after six intensive days with many new impressions.
