Information: Germany is India's most important trading partner within the EU. The focus of Indian exports to Germany is in the textile sector, followed by chemical products, electrical technology, metal goods, leather and food. The bilateral trade volume in 2013 was 16,08 billion euros. In the ranking of North Rhine-Westphalia's trading partners, India ranks 20th for exports and 22nd for imports. Germany has been one of the most important investors in the country for decades. According to the Federal Foreign Office, with a current amount of 6 billion euros in direct investments, Germany is currently in 8th place after Mauritius, Singapore, Great Britain, Japan, the USA, the Netherlands and Cyprus. The main focuses of Germany's commitment are transport and electricity - and the metal industry. The German trade surplus is particularly characterized by high Indian demand for all kinds of capital goods “Made in Germany”.
 
For this purpose, the State Association of Business Associations of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Association of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. one NRW country workshop “India” with a lecture by Mike D Batra, Managing Director of Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH, on the topic “How companies can gain a foothold in India”.
