Dr. Wamser + Batra India is organizing market research in India with a focus on water supply and sanitation - New Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai from January 26th to 31st, 2015

Market opportunities in the Indian water industry

With around 1,3 billion inhabitants, India is home to 17,5% of the world's population, but at the same time only has around 4% of all fresh water resources. According to the Indian government, water demand will increase by 2025% by 22 and by over 2050% by 30. In addition, water resources cannot be sufficiently stored and distributed due to incomplete supply networks and inadequate technologies. In at least 19 of the 29 states, groundwater is significantly contaminated, existing treatment systems are inadequate, and wastewater disposal facilities require improvement. The local governments place particular investment emphasis on the areas of water treatment, process technology and river cleaning. There are initial pilot projects and further funded projects that also appeal to German companies are being planned.

Objective of the India market exploration trip in January 2015

The market exploration trip, which will take place from January 26th to 31st, 2015, is intended to give German water management companies a comprehensive overview of the diverse trade and investment opportunities in India as well as information on possible financing of local projects. In addition to supporting the establishment and expansion of industry-specific business contacts, local authorities and ministries are also particularly involved in the program. The journey from New Delhi via Chennai and Mumbai will also be combined with a visit to the renowned ChemTech trade fair. Dr. Wamser + Batra India is organizing the trip together with AHP International, with the support of the German trade association German Water Partnership. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) based on a resolution by the German Bundestag and is part of the BMWi market development program for SMEs.

Program content

Participants of the five-day market exploration trip are offered direct access to potential Indian public and private customers and partner companies. The on-site program includes appointments for the business delegation with actors in various areas such as water purification and treatment, irrigation or river cleaning. In specialist information events and interactive visits to companies and authorities, local experts provide German participants with targeted country and industry-specific information on the Indian market. The focus is not only on getting to know the market opportunities, but also on being able to actually use them. The aim of the trip is to develop an understanding of the special features of the Indian water industry and to show ways into the market. Through German-Indian networking with decision-makers and potential cooperation partners, important preliminary decisions can be made for future business activities in the Indian market and crucial contacts can be made for later activities.
