Recruiting in India has always been a challenge. The latest figures show that caution is still required. The global specialist company First Advantage carries out regular checks on the truthfulness of application documents. In India, out of 2015 million documents checked in 2,8, an average of 11,6% were fake. Trend rising. The market research institute AuthBridge has examined individual industries and in certain cases comes to even higher values.
In the pharmaceutical sector, the proportion of incorrect or dubious information was 37%, in the manufacturing sector it was 34% and in the IT sector it was 24%. The majority of the false information in the applicants' CVs related to school education/academic titles, information about previous employers and acquired qualifications. In plain language: The essential criteria for a well-founded personnel decision.
Searching for personnel in India is much more complex than in Europe

Werner Heesen, Head of Human Resources & Organization
“Often these are fake certificates and documents that look deceptively real and are not recognizable as forgeries at first glance,” describes Werner Heesen, head of HR and organization at Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH the situation. “For this reason, we have to make considerable efforts to find out the truth. As a rule, not even an additional source of information helps, but rather specific additional facts have to be checked, compared and evaluated. As a rule, this effort is worth it and our customers welcome this approach once they have recognized the risks and additional costs it can result in for a company in India.”
Another big problem is the approach of many so-called “personnel consultants” in the country who search for personnel on a commission basis. Behind this there is often a whole chain of so-called “scouts” who receive cash money for every contact they make and whose only focus is on closing the deal. The truth falls by the wayside when even higher income can be achieved with the opposite.
The series of negative examples could be extended at will. In the end, it is crucial that you as a company receive verified – and therefore reliable – information.
