"India is growing faster than China.” At least that's what the government in Delhi says. But analysts come to completely different conclusions! However, there have been doubts for a long time about the Indian government's official growth figures, especially when it comes to industry. The government “ordered” the jump from around 5 to a good 7 percent growth virtually overnight by simply changing the statistical model and data collection.
As India experts, we know how reliable the official figures are. That's why we want to know better and ask entrepreneurs directly about their market assessment.
We used our market entry in Austria to collect a business climate index for Austrian investors and exporters in India for the first time. To do this, we interviewed local decision-makers from those SMEs that operate in India: managing directors, sales managers and area sales managers responsible for India.
From mid-August to mid-September 2016, we were in contact with more than 150 companies and received 56 Assessments of the business situation in India. We have summarized the results in this study. So we have that first public empirical survey on the economic sentiment of Austrian companies in relation to India.
