Admittedly, Indian authorities do not have a good reputation. And the activities of these authorities are also directly linked to corruption – whether justified or not.
Of course there are such cases. But it is much worse when companies - even without recognizing any signs of it - assume that officials will be corrupted as a matter of course. Before making a hasty judgment, you should ask yourself the following control questions in a specific case:
- Have we correctly understood the authority's requirements?
- Did the authority give us understandable and comprehensible feedback on the execution of our application?
- Is our contact at the authority also the decision maker?
- Is there really a situation that we need to consider as critical and/or that needs to be seen as a case of corruption?
- Do we have credible partners and contacts in India to whom we can submit this case for evaluation?
