Admittedly, Indian authorities do not have a good reputation. And the activities of these authorities are also directly linked to corruption – whether justified or not.

Of course there are such cases. But it is much worse when companies - even without recognizing any signs of it - assume that officials will be corrupted as a matter of course. Before making a hasty judgment, you should ask yourself the following control questions in a specific case:

  1. Have we correctly understood the authority's requirements?
  2. Did the authority give us understandable and comprehensible feedback on the execution of our application?
  3. Is our contact at the authority also the decision maker?
  4. Is there really a situation that we need to consider as critical and/or that needs to be seen as a case of corruption?
  5. Do we have credible partners and contacts in India to whom we can submit this case for evaluation?
