Heinrich Brüllau spent around ten years in Pune. There he first set up a local engineering company for a VW subsidiary and then successfully set up a production site for Schmersal, the world market leader in safety switching devices and systems.

In his work, Brüllau clearly warns against believing that you can be successful on the subcontinent without a strategy tailored to India and entirely on your own (i.e. without advice). He has already seen numerous European medium-sized companies and corporations come to Pune and fail spectacularly there. Most of them also paid quite a lot of money - simply because they wanted to “save money” in the wrong place.

However, according to Brüllau, anyone who does not have the willingness and capacity to fully engage with the Indian market and its needs should serve the premium segment with the help of a sales partner and thus save themselves effort and tears in India.
