Like many other companies, Zahoransky Pvt. Ltd will temporarily close its factory in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu/India) during the lockdown from March to May. Even with a special permit, operations were initially only possible to a limited extent. Management decided to use the prescribed standstill to further qualify their workforce.

Development and expansion of competencies and key qualifications

Due to the travel restrictions - even within India - it was clear that only an e-learning approach was possible. A large number of generic, but business-relevant content was made available to employees within a very short time via a commercial e-learning platform.

At the beginning, however, there was still a lack of a solution for creating courses on internal processes and work steps - both in administration and in production. Therefore, Zahoransky, together with the India consultant Dr. Wamser + Batra a project with the following goals:

  • By implementing an internal company e-learning concept, all courses should be able to be carried out on-demand. This massively reduces the need for repetitive training (e.g. for new employees) and therefore saves the organization money in the long term.
  • Employee participation and learning success should be systematically recorded and tracked.
  • Ultimately, all employees should be able to create content independently and without an external agency.

Success story of the Indian branch for the entire group

During the course of the project, it quickly became clear that the content created in India was also relevant at the headquarters in Germany and at the Spanish plant. The project was supplemented by the creation of German and Spanish-language e-learning courses. The English-speaking team in India uses commercial tools for translation and dubbing.

"E-learning is an important component for the training and further education of our team in Coimbatore in order to provide young employees with efficient and didactically professional access to the necessary specialist knowledge. With the opportunities that this learning method offers us, it is possible to provide the appropriate training on a broad basis for topics such as security or compliance as well as specifically in specific specialist areas and to verify the results. Every crisis also brings something good with it. In our case it was the project with Dr. Wamser + Batra was the initial spark, which we achieved within a few weeks “made us fly from a standing start”says Reinhard Schnurr, Managing Director of Zahoransky Pvt. Ltd.

Organizational development through further training

According to the India business climate index 36 percent of European companies in India are currently struggling to adapt their processes and structures to the new framework conditions (digitalization of processes and sales, purchasing, production and administration). The Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH supports Indian branches in implementing concrete organizational development measures, starting with the qualification of employees through to the implementation of restructuring measures.
