Dr. Satish Batra, born in New Delhi, has lived in Aachen since the 1960s. After completing his electrical engineering studies at RWTH Aachen University, he specialized in process control technology and measurement and control technology. He founded companies in the areas of electrical engineering, mechanical and plant engineering, environmental technology, measurement and control technology, food processing, medical technology, metal processing, geo-information systems and shipbuilding and was successful with his HORIZON group of companies in both Europe and India.

Dr. Batra is also a member of the Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and a member of the Committee for the North Indian Region of the German-Indian Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) since 2001. He is an international speaker and head of the German-Indian Round Table (GIRT ) in Aachen since 2004 and has contributed on a cultural level to making the German-Indian Society in Aachen the largest of all branches in Germany.
